The Spirit of Craftsmanship

This project aim to represent the peculiar relationship that ties a craftsman to his creation.

He is able by the mastering of his field to express himself in his craft. This in turn define and influence the essence of his personality. Every craftsman I have met shares a deep connection to his material and for some it even goes on a spiritual level.

But unlike many artistic pursue, aesthetics are on pair with the usefulness of the final product.

From this encounter between ideas,  constraints and practice grows the "Savoir-Faire". This mastering is not only a way of self expression, but also a mean to echoes in time. Using skills as a testimony of one's existence.

This is how the baker brings back life to his village, how the shoemaker offer the opportunity to stand out from the crowd and how the blacksmith preserves the historical patrimony.
