Death is inescapable, inevitable. But it is not death that we search for; it is a life that we relish in. It is a life that is remembered after a loved one has passed. My uncle approached me at a family get together and asked me to take his photo before he died. He wanted something left in the world that captured him truthfully and fully, and he believed I was the one for the job. After I had made his photo, he exclaimed, "Now, that's me!" It appeared that I was, indeed, the one for the job. That question that day, that exclamation, led to this project of photographing my family.

After my Grandmother had passed, I noticed that there were no portraits and hardly any snapshots of her. I would have loved for there to be more photos that I could look back on with her in them. I wish I had taken more photographs of her.  Since I wasn't able to do it for her, I will not miss the opportunity to do it for everyone else.
