Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that is converted to a brilliant Prussian blue using coated paper and light. The process was invented by Sir John Herschel in 1842, and the method was used by botanist Anna Atkins to illustrate the first book of its kind, Photographs of British Algae: Cyanotype Impressions, in 1843.
