Vacation in no man's sea is a multi-chapter investigation on the cruise industry from Univision News Digital & Columbia University I photographed, filmed and did creative direction for. Visit it here.

The cruise industry is ruled by three big corporations globally: Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian. Though those companies are based in the United States, they have complex operational structures in multiple countries and tax havens, designed to sidestep U.S. labor regulations and avoid taxes and environmental controls. There’s important human consequences to this complex structure, like labor abuse and lack of prosecution for criminal cases that occur on board. It is an example of how corporations abuse globalization.
