These photos were taken in the premises of the obstetric- and palliative-station immediately after the birth respectively the death of a human being. There are no persons visible but their traces they have left by coming and going.
In the obstetric premises it is all about life. The traces we can see cause of violence, a brutal intervention, of blood, excrements and effort.
The rooms which are furnished for dying are fulfilled with peace and silence. The traces which remain are unopened biscuits, a bottle half full of beer and obsolete slippers.
These rooms are not considered to stay but for transition and intermediation. They seem to be hotel-rooms, in a sober design. In the center there is the bed, an intimate area, where only confident persons do have access. Retreat area and refuge, rest- and recreation oasis, but at the same time the origin of begin and end of existence.
