Private Story
Let's Swing!
Paris swing. The Swing Dance has become part of daily life of Parisians of all ages, races and gender. Schools, workshops, Balls, associations, open air events, Festivals are opening and getting each day more adepts to the practice. Those institutions that got already their place in the dance community are consolidating their names and becoming a reference in Europe. It is the case for the school Brother’s Swing, with their Swing festival, “Jazz Roots” where the best dancers in Europe reunite in Paris.
The school “Shake That Swing”, as big and considered as “Brother’s Swing” in town, opened their door in 2013 with 70 students and, in only 6 years, has reached 1000 students in last 2018, being already up to 1100 in the currently 2019. In 2012 the official Swing Dance agenda in Paris counted more or less 3 or 4 events per week in town. It is now up to 80 events per month, between bals, workshops, concerts.
All these numbers are quite surprising for the dance is not an easy dance to learn. Even though, there is a real interest in the Swing. Some remember the fact the dance was very common during war times, as a way to escape hard reality and dream. But the fact is that there is a magic energy when both dancers connect and move in syntonic time, creating a estate of joy and happiness.
This Story aims to show this cinematic ambiance of dance and illusion; moments where dancers are lost in their movement, centred in their body and enjoying life.
It was totally produced with Canon systems EOSR and few Mark IV.
