Ridgewood volunteer ambulance corps Captain, Walter Dziemian, and members Mattew Trischwell and Jesus Rodriguez return to base after delivering sandwiches to health care workers of Wyckoff Heights Hospital in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, U.S., April 12, 2020. Walter Dziezman, a 22 year volunteer first responder and the current Captain of the non-profit 501(c)(3), spoke about recently having the corps enlisted into the city’s 911 system due to the overwhelming emergency calls overrunning the FDNY EMS. Just three weeks prior the city incurred roughly 7,600 calls in one day. Since being put on the 911 service the non-profit has been dispatched throughout the city in order to elevate the overwhelming volume of emergency amongst a dwindling roster of first responders. During the afternoon on Easter Matthew Trischwell, a 1 year volunteer with RVAC, fitted with a Du Pony Tyvek Suit and Jesus Rodriguez, a Chairman of the Board of Directors at RVAC and 12 year member, enter the dwelling on Woodward Avenue to attend to a choking infant.
