You sing war songs:
- when you don't know what peace and security is;
- when your childhood had been taken from you;
- when you have lived all your life in constant fear;
- when you want to be important;
- when you don't want to be seen as traumatized;
- when the music becomes the escape from the life you know...
It is the cliché that gives them no other option: they are either victims or killers or freaks. They live in Nord Kivu Province in Democratic Republic of Congo where war lasted for the last two decades. This story is about young hip-hop, rap, R&B musicians who want to rebuild their life. Many of them have returned home from exiles. They desire fame and luxuriousness, not for warm feeling of being well known. For them It means they will never feel such fear anymore when they succeed. WAR SONGS is ongoing project focused on musicians living in the war zones. The aim is to focus on youth's ability of adaptation and resistance to any reality and their desire to create.
