The United States / AustraliaBig Boned follows the life of a giant woman in the big city. It’s a series of scenes that highlight the difficulties an extra, extra tall person might have to overcome in a place like New York. Though the film does touch on issues of accessibility and tolerance, the story was conceived as an exploration of how difficult it is to feel like you’re too big, or too much, especially in a city that feels hostile towards your very presence.
Shine and Shade by Partho Gupte
IndiaShine & Shade examines the unpredictable behavior of a solitary, aged woman, living across an ophthalmologist’s clinic in a crowded Mumbai’s suburb."¨ As the lady oscillates between lucidity and delusion, the film plays with the notion of ‘sight’ and ‘normalcy’ to question attitudes to the aged.
