The Italian non-profit organization "˜Anelli Mancanti' (Missing Link) has as its major goal the promotion and diffusion of the varies cultures that are represented in the area of Florence. For many years they have helped foreign people to integrate in the Italian society. In 2012 they won a contest with their design of the game 'Migrantopoli', and the prize was fundings to create it. It seems quite similar to Monopoly, but the game 'Migrantpoly' shows in a fun and instructive way what legal and illegal migrants have to go through to obtain their permission to stay in Italy and to start a new life.
The 'Anelli Mancanti' also provide tutoring to kids from 4 to 15 years old, and many of these schoolkids are foreign as well, so they decided to involve these kids with the production of the wooden game. They've organized various workshops to teach these children how to use tools and some trips to teach them how to recycle and to appreciate nature. The children were of course also helpful sources for the creation of the protagonist of the game, which are all people with different nationalities, cultures, stories and even their own passports. My job was to follow the kids through this journey, from the exploration of nature, various materials, collaboration, until the final production (with help of the adults of course).
