I started to work on Fertility series in 2009. When my daughter was 6 years old I first thought about my maternal role and the role of motherhood in society. Looking at the history and experience of our ancestors in Slavic culture I found that all woman world order was an exact copy of the Earth device. And ordinary woman rituals had sacred significance.

The series touched upon the cult of mothers as a symbol of life continuity. Woman fertility, woman ability to bear and raise offspring, I compare with fertility of land and with good natural processes as necessary conditions for survival of our ancestors. "Fertility" series is an attempt to show secret connection between mothers and Mother Nature and put into doubt existing stereotypes about female roles in society.

This work is a kind of transition to a new level of identification for me, it's a way to reconsider the quality of the feminine essence and to show it through photography.
