Martin Raack photographed some days. Charlotte photographed some nights.

An observation of the sceneries in front of their house. A fascination for the contrast between days and nights. The photographs can also be seen as a reflection of their perceptions, and even characters. Martin always found himself sitting at the exact same spot, attentive, photographing. A need for daily routines most people follow. But, also this careful voyeur is sometimes being revealed by the pedestrians.  Charlotte photographed scenes. At night the tiny camera was mounted on a heavy tripod, contributing to the surreality of the scenery. Sometimes even its romance. Like the one between Sara, a young Syrian woman, and Magid from Oman. A couple which can only have met in Istanbul. The dark promenade as a refuge. The few remaining flashcubes used.

These photographs are an artistic representation of the city’s diversity and quirkiness, it’s sporadic, nonlinear nature. All through the lens of a wondering German couple and their tiny cameras.
