23 Sept. 2023. Qamishli is a town in the north east of Syria, next to the border with Turkey. Public spaces for women are not easily accessible for spending time together. Women in Syria have less access to employment and are exposed to extremely discriminatory economic conditions. One of the moments of intimacy is confined to a swimming pool that only becomes accessible to women on Saturdays for four hours. Women are free to undress, dive, dance, sing. Spaces like these are vital for women because they become moments of sharing and caring.
