I covered this demonstration by the AfD in Germany speculatively having first looked for a commission but none, unfortunately, were forthcoming. This, you find, is often the case these days. Even if you have a relationship with one paper they are still reluctant to assign if they believe the ‘Agencies' will already be covering it. In days of old you would invariably still be sent as the Newspaper was still in search of its own in house images, style and take on a situation. There may be some exceptions to this rule like the Yellow Vest protests in France where the story is so large that it dictates your own teams coverage but on the whole it's left to AP, Reuters or DPA etc on the photography side. Budgets being the professed reason for the change.Used In the Belgium 'De Standaard' daily newspaper. 'Wir sind das Volk' is 'we are the people' and it was a slogan much used in the times of the collapse of the GDR prior to German Unification. The AfD hold a demonstration at Köthen, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It followed the death of a 22 German man earlier in the week in Chemnitz after and altercation with 2 Afghan refugees who are now in Police custody. #germany#Köthen#saxonyanhalt#afd#demonstration
