Bangladesh is hit harder than almost any other country in the world by climate change despite emitting very little greenhouse gases. In fact it's in 7th position on the climate change effect. The most affected area is the coastal region of the country. in 2018, 407 people died in Bangladesh due to extreme weather related events - floods, landslide, storms and cyclones. The country also suffered an economic loss of about $2826.68 million. Climate change has also harmful effects on community sources of livelihoods of the people such as casual laboring, fishing, hunting, and crafting. Many of these livelihoods depend on the performance of agriculture. There are not enough job opportunities during the dry season in the local areas and those who were farmers and fishermen are also trying to switch their jobs in order to increase their finances, which leaves millions of workers unemployed during the remaining five to six months. on the other hand the brick making only operates during the dry season so it becomes an easy catch to them. Everywhere in Bangladesh you can see the high chimneys pouring grey smoke into the air. The capital, Dhaka is not different. Many brick kilns located around the city. Everyday thousands of people come to the brick kilns looking for jobs & often stay for months at the brick making fields. They earn about 5-7 $ every day, payment is irregular, the work monotonous and heavy. They burn Millions of bricks. But the price is high, and paid by the workers and the environment.
