Constanza Hevia is a Chilean visual storyteller based in San Francisco, California. She documents visual stories focused on social and cultural issues using an anthropological methodology. In her work, Constanza seeks to explore the complex relationship between memory, loss, and mortality.
After working in the Chilean film industry, Constanza moved to California, where she obtained an MFA in Photography. In addition to her academic training, Constanza was selected to attend the Eddie Adams Workshop, and she was invited to Review Santa Fe Photo Festival. She is a member of Women Photograph, Foto Féminas, and Diversify Photo.
Constanza has photographed for Mother Jones, WSJ, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, The Guardian, San Francisco Chronicle, STAT News, among others. She has exhibited her photographs at the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, Head On Photo Festival in Australia, the Los Angeles Center of Photography, the PhotoPlace Gallery in Vermont, the Centro Cultural EstacioĢn Mapocho in Chile, and at Photoville in New York.
Constanza uses photography, audio, and video as tools for social observation and as a language to communicate narratives that usually are not represented in mainstream media and society. Currently, she is based between Chile and San Francisco, CA.
