For the fall of 2022, Visura is delighted to partner with The Current, a contemporary art center in Stowe, Vermont in a shared effort to further enhance the human experience through the visual arts. The art center and visual media tech startup will award a residency, announce the recipients of this year’s 2022 Visura Grant for Visual Journalists, and collaborate in a group exhibition.
Located in Stowe, Vermont— the center for contemporary art has exhibited the work of artists like Catherine Opie, Meleko Mokgosi, Donna Ann McAdams, Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons, and Carrie Mae Weems, amongst many others. The center provides year-round visual art exhibitions, an annual outdoor sculpture show titled Exposed, and, public and educational programs.
“This is an exciting new partnership that bolsters our work in supporting artists representing diverse identities, geographies, and career stages, while bringing high-caliber visual arts programs to our community,” says Rachel Moore, Executive Director and Curator at The Current. “As an outlet for critical examination of our social, cultural, and political moment, we are thrilled to work together to continue to be a resource for artists and our audiences.”
The partnership was made possible in part with the support of an anonymous donor who made a generous contribution to The Current to support visual artists who inspire change in the world through contemporary art and visual storytelling.
One of Visura’s main goals is to showcase the work of diverse visual artists and storytellers worldwide," says Visura founder Adriana Teresa Letorney. "We are excited to partner with The Current to further our shared efforts to elevate and expand the parameters of media literacy through visual arts and storytelling."
Visura is a global platform for visual storytellers. The membership platform is a destination for publishers to license visual content directly from freelancers, and a home for visual storytellers to access business tools to showcase and sell editorial, creative and commercial images directly to publishers, businesses and visual content buyers.
