Sophie Garcia is a freelance photojournalist based in Burkina Faso since 2013.
Sophie covered the fall of the Compaoré regime in October 2014 and the 2015 attempt coup for Le Monde and has worked as a consultant photographer for UNICEF Burkina Faso. Her work was exhibited at the United Nations Headquarters in 2019 as part of UNESCO's "Education transforms lives" program.

Living in Ouagadougou, Sophie works for international medias (Le Monde, Associated Press, Der Spiegel) and NGO's (Amnesty International, Alima). She also leads long-term photo documentary projects, such as "Sankara Debout", a serie of portraits of three generations of relatives and admirers of Captain Thomas Sankara. Her work on the Ugandan label Nyege Nyege and the dynamism of the East African electronic music scene is currently exhibited at the Médiathèque Musicale de Paris until the end of August 2021.
