Shawn currently serves as Communications Assistant at Care and Assistance for Forced Migrants (CAFOMI). He has also worked with United Nations (UN) Volunteers on a few projects. His professional focus is on impact/ solutions-oriented stories.

He is very passionate about social justice and the holistic realization of the SDGs. Having photographed for the last decade, through his work, Shawn has attempted to use the camera as a tool to tell stories, highlighting the myriad global humanitarian, development and peace challenges.

Shawn’s portrait of a dehydrated 2 years old Congolese refugee boy, titled “the three emergencies” won first place at the Kampala Geo Politics Photo Awards. This image is from his series on refugee-children in south-western Uganda.
 
Shawn holds a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Uganda Christian University, Uganda (2017). He’s also DW Akademie and The Aga Khan University Graduate School of Media and Communications alumnus.

Born in Uganda, in a rural hospital his dad likes to remind him that he’s village boy, Shawn began his life in the small town of Fort-portal. Today he lives in Kampala, Uganda.
