Tunnel
Afrin, located in the north of Syria, was taken under control by the PYD in 2012 after the civil war started in the country. YPG-YPJ militants in the region began to dig tunnels and ditches all over the city. Living spaces were built into the concrete tunnels of miles of kilometers surrounding the city. Militants used huge earth movers to dig tunnels which thickness of 90 centimeters. Many prisoners were forced to work in tunnel construction. Most of the tunnels were destroyed in the Olive Branch Operation carried out by the Turkish Armed Forces.
