Public Story
Land of the Soga
In summer 2010,I have worked as an architect in Uganda's second largest city Jinja for ten weeks. It used to be the capital of the Busoga kingdom. After the country gained independence from the British rule, the city experienced a dramatic decline in economy, particularly during Idi Amin regime. Since 1986, Uganda has been developing its economy. Therefore, it is going through serious economic and social changes.
These photographs are a selection of images that capture the unfortunate decay of the land but also the hopeful attitude in daily life of Ugandans.
