Arie:
Moustached, silver haired, tall, wise, inscrutable.
Both a bold adventurer and a gentle pater familias, Arie will always be a paradox.
He is an eccentric everyman and all efforts to seize any characteristic, any trait that would define him, will prove fruitless.
We never see Arie in these photo's, but rather an alter ego, a movie extra, a Byronic hero and finally a legend.
Arie was born in 1944 and lives in the south of Holland. I've been photographing him for years and it's a very personal project.
