I've been working on my project, Monday Mood, for the last three years. It's a series of images that show objects with human characteristics. They often express a range of emotions. For me, it's also an artistic pursuit of what's unseen or unrecognized around us. Yes, my photographs can be funny, quirky and entertaining. The message is one that conveys joy, curiousity and a good dose of playfulness. But my project has transformed into something that I didn't anticipate. It's also become a quest.
In most instances, we fail to observe our surroundings because we're too engaged in our mobile devices or we're rushing through our days to meet everyday deadlines. But the people who've been following me on Facebook and Tumblr have also come to understand my visual language. They soon engaged in this visual language once they took the time to pay attention to their surroundings.
What was once invisible to them soon became an inspired discovery. They began taking pictures and started posting their pictures on Facebook or sending them directly to me. In many cases, they proudly tagged their anthropomorphic images as their Monday Mood. A complete role reversal. How fantastic is that!?
As I continue my work it is my hope to publish a book of some of my best Monday Mood images. In the meantime, there's so much to see out there and so many new discoveries to be made.
