Dana Ullman was born in San Francisco and grew up in the Pacific Northwest. She is a Brooklyn-based freelance photojournalist and writer whose work focuses on humanizing statistics and social issues through storytelling.
Dana's work has been published by the New York Times, TIME, CNN, The Atlantic, among others. In 2014, she received a grant from the Puffin Foundation to continue her project "Another Kind of Prison" and in 2015, received a Community Health Reporting Fellowship from the International Center for Journalists for her work on older immigrants in New York City.
Dana is available for assignments globally, especially with focus in Denmark, the U.S. and Uganda.
