This series of photographs was created on a single day spent at an Amish community benefit auction on a rainy spring day in May of 2018.  This kind of community auction is common in the Amish community and many people, both Amish and "English" donate items that will be sold in the auction.  The proceeds of these auctions are usually put towards something that will serve the greater good of the community itself.  This particular auction was to help support a new hospital for children with special needs in Central Pennsylvania.

I have attended these events since the time I was a young child, but it wasn't until I moved overseas that I realised how special and unique they are.  It is like taking a refreshing step back in time.  I hope to continue this series in the future in order to preserve these unique events and the custom that surrounds them.
