Negoor is one of the oldest cities in Sistan & Baluchistan province the most extensive and farthest stat from the capital, Tehran, in Iran with a population of 7000 people. This province is located in the southeast part of the country near Pakistan border and Gulf of Oman (Sadvis in Avesta and Makuran in Sasanid period). Majority of People are Muslims mostly Sunni Muslim and the main job of people is handicrafts and animal husbandry.
Baluchi people are one of the main branches of Iranian race, though some of the population has Indian features probably because of immigration during centries in this region. This region had been covered only by few photographers because of geographical, political, and social problems. I started taking photos of a family who have faced many problems, cultural, social and mostly financial. The main issue of the city is drug addiction and lack of job opportunity which have impressed family members too. Negoor is deprived of some primary facilities like a hospital, suffers from a severe poverty, with lots of jobless people, and addicted youth. As a close community, there are many social crimes like dealing drugs, alcoholic drinks and illegitimate relationships there. In this situation, people wish and wait for better days in all aspects of their lives rather trying for it.
This project is my first project in documentary photography started in 2009.
