After a XXth turbulent century and an entry into the European Union, Poland is rooted in their own land, with the lack of a weak economy and a regional and social policy in process of constant change. A strong religiosity pervades in the most rural areas, leaving a deep respect for patent figures of worship. The culmination of this behaviour takes place in the Holy Mountain of Grabarka. It has been a pilgrimage center for Orthodox Christians in Poland and other countries since the eighteenth century. It has, as its climax, the concentration of the Transfiguration of Christ which attracts a lot of believers. To get to Grabarka on foot is a tradition for them, some do it with wood crosses that can be seen around the church. Since the humankind began to live in communities, they have had the need to cling to a faith dogma for different reasons. The need for an algorithm or a spiritual leader has lost presence in the current world. However, for these Polish people every day is a step towards the reaffirmation of beliefs. This assertion has to do with a religious feeling of deep roots and ancestral faith. But it is not risky to make a more anthropological or sociological reading to conclude that the maintenance of highly formalized rituals and liturgies are in their essence and its manifestation, an attempt to resist an annihilating, overwhelming , absorbent modernity which tends to blur and to neutralize any trace of uniqueness, persistence of distinctive signs that give personality and reason to live to groups of humans that are carried out and known.Therefore, it is essential to leave a graphic witness of this world which is becoming more residual and more dispensable in the eyes of postmodernity.
