United States Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoffs began their Africa tour with a historic visit to Ghana in March 2023.

The four-day visit started with a bilateral meeting and a state banquet at the Jubilee House with President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Vice President Kamala Harris visited the Vibrate Studio, a community recording studio for young creatives at the Freedom Skatepark in Accra.

Vice President Kamala Harris and the Second Gentleman travelled to Cape Coast, Ghana, where they met Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, the Chief of Cape Coast, at the Emintsimadze Palace. The vice president and second gentleman then took a tour of Cape Coast Castle.

On her last day, Vice President Harris met with six Ghanaian women entrepreneurs to speak about women's empowerment, inclusion, and leadership. Vice President Kamala Harris then announced a series of investments and initiatives from the U.S. government to foster women’s political, economic, and social inclusion in Africa.

Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoffs continue their Africa tour to Tanzania.
