Stop Dismissing Black Lives PROTEST
Summary
Photos of a mother's plea to the governor of Wisconsin to help find her missing son.
From the event description:
- With the recent dismissal of black lives in WI and around the country, we must demand equal rights. Christopher Miller, a 27 y.o. African American male, has been missing since 11/19/22 after an encounter with WI State Patrol. Officer Ketelboeter was the last person to see Chris alive. He fled from a traffic pursuit on foot into open field & hasn’t been seen or heard from since. With no phone, no winter jacket, in completely unfamiliar territory. There is no trace or lead whatsoever up until this point on his whereabouts. Family tried filing him missing 11/20/22 at 2:30am but were told the following day he was removed because he “didn’t qualify.” We have been met with nothing but non-urgency, carelessness and many, many discrepancies amongst all agencies involved reports. Law enforcement refuses to search for Chris without further new credible evidence. They have reports stating “officer notes indicate State Patrol picked Christopher up” on 11/20/22. So where is he? We only have black and white maps of what was searched. No actual body cam or drone footage to verify their efforts despite multiple requests, along with missing officer weapon discharge logs, GPS data, amongst others. What would you do if this was your son? Your brother? The father of your children? Who are we supposed to turn to when those who are there to “serve and protect” refuse to sit down and answer questions and help find Chris? Enough is enough. Where is the outrage? We must take it to the Governor and demand Chris’s life, and every other black persons’ life, be taken seriously.
Present was Christopher's mother, Tammy. Using a megaphone she pleaded from outside the fence around the governor's mansion for help in finding her missing son. As a parent, it was heart wrenching listening to a mother make plea after plea for help. Sadly, I suspect if it were my daughter, who is white, there would have been searches, resources offered up, and help from authorities. Instead, from reports, Tammy has not received any cooperation from law enforcement or any associated agencies.
