The intricate shadows cast by the external staircase of the Jakob-Brucker-Gymnasium complement the utilitarian beauty of its metalwork. The Renovation and extension of thr school building is a work by Köhler Architekten along with Simon Winter and Benjamin Hardt. The outside stairs become an active participant in the building’s daily life through the dynamic interplay of light and shadow. This functional element is transformed into a visual spectacle as sunlight filters through the perforated metal, creating an ever-changing pattern that breathes life into the structure. The geometric precision of the stairs provides a stark, orderly contrast to the organic shadows they cast, marrying the calculated with the spontaneous.
