Anna Nagar is an ongoing photographic observation of a place which I would like to observe from the perspective of the inhabitants. With an interest in individual stories and fates of the people, I got to know through the years. In Anna Nagar, around 1500 families live and building a community. Located in the central of Delhi-India, surrounded by bank towers and two giant construction fields from both sides, a metro line, and a railway path. Delhi is the third largest hypercity in the world with over 27 million population. The first settlements in Anna Nagar can be dated more than 50 years back.
Soon the nothing will eat this small little microcosmos, nothing will remain, the remainder will be more glass and unreal values. This documentation is about the daily life of its inhabitants, an observation of a place which soon will disappear.
This documentation can be seen as a sensory and artistic exploration of a microcosm, of a small settlement in the city center of Delhi, India. It is about the life and soul of its inhabitants. Some would call it a slum; others call it home. The common definition of a slum is no longer clear to me, after my experience in Anna Nagar.
