Grappling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are systems of close combat on the ground. A human chess: the fighters knotted, the bodies intertwined, endless combinations, creating a hank of skin and limbs that endlessly unravels and curls. After the pandemic reminded us of the importance of closeness to others, I celebrate the resilience and interpersonal physical closeness of these sports.

Das sogenannte brasilianische Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) und das Grappling sind Systeme des Nahkampfes am Boden. Ein menschliches Schach: die Kämpfer verknotet, die Körper ineinander verschlungen, unendliche Kombinationen. Wo die Pandemie uns daran erinnerte, wie wichtig die Nähe zu anderen Menschen ist, zelebriere ich die Resilienz und die zwischenmenschliche Körpernähe dieser Sportarten.
