Rebecca Gaal is a humanitarian photographer and creative strategist. She is devoted to examining healthcare, environmental concerns and the inter-relationship between the two. This work has taken her across the globe where she has witnessed the spectrum of humanity. Her passion involves long-term and in-depth projects where she is able to watch the progression, or at times degradation, between medicine, nature and earth’s inhabitants. Gaal aims to show their interconnectedness to help foster better understanding and ultimately, find solutions. The hope is that with understanding and empathy, change can flourish.

Rebecca studied Social Innovation at the University of Cape Town, Environmental Science and Public Health at the University of Oregon, Painting at the Art Institute of San Francisco, Photojournalism at the Los Angeles Center of Photography and was an assistant to Nikon Master Vincent Versace. Gaal holds Medical Person in Charge and W-EMT certifications, is an Artist in Residence at the Seva Foundation, a contributor at Tandem Stills and Motion, a member of the Visura Guild and an ambassador for Fujifilm.

Rebecca has traveled worldwide documenting in over 50 countries building relationships between individuals and companies to creatively address pressing issues. Gaal sees the camera as a tool to help better understand the world. When not on assignment, she can be found working in her garden or drawing while the coffee brews.
