Figure
‘Man is born free but always in constant competition with his environment which may serve as a limitation, advantage or loss of identity and sometimes the acceptability to other spaces caused by the stereotypical story of his space.
A space like Makoko water front, an informal community founded on Lagos lagoon water with the population of uncertain thousand inhabitants, which is composed of different immigrants and ethnic groups from neighboring countries like Ghana, Togo, Republic of Benin as well as citizens of Nigeria, co-habiting in a space called their home in achieving their own dreams. But are perceived as a ‘figure head’, occupying a space, with erased personal identity, with little self-expression in the general conversations of their own story, mostly in the global narrative where their voice is push to silence by some internal/external forces, majorly by the community setting (space).
Figure is a conceptual visual story that focuses on the cumulative stories that emanate from individuals experience of loss of self-representation from the concept of space they belong to without exploration of individuals identity.
