Content is king, they say. But “content” is contained, by definition. Can the audience be “contented”, by watching canned content? Moving pictures need space to move... the viewers. Let's open the can, let's liberate the pictures!

Eric Vander Borght is an independent film director and photographer who prefers openings to closings. He enjoys opening his eyes and ears and enjoys moving to explore, his camera in hand. He has visited more than 50 countries for his own filmmaking or for various counterparts, such as broadcasters, the United Nations, the Red Cross, the European Commission.

In a career spanning over 30 years, he has created numerous documentaries, commercials, corporate films and music videos. He has been photographing since the 1970's, with a focus on urban subjects, portraits and commissioned work.

Eric usually chooses to feature the human aspects of a story, as stories are core to the human experience. Projected on a screen, stories are a safe way for viewers to step out of their comfort zone and to connect with other human beings. A way to make the screen an opening...

Eric has worked closely with film directors as dramaturge and artistic advisor to help them structure their stories. As a result of these collaborations, several films have won multiple awards, one opened the Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival, another was nominated for an Oscar.

Eric likes to wander. He wanders to wonder. And to share. Join the liberation movement of moving pictures!
