About

Born in 1982, Lisa Zillio is an Italian fine art photographer, who works with stills and film. In 2010, she began as a documentary photographer and filmmaker working in science communication. Among the projects she worked during these years, she documented and filmed two scientific expeditions: MarcoPolo was a journey along the ancient Silk Road to understand how genes shape people's love for foods; and, Mini Darwin, which followed Charles Darwin’s footsteps in Argentina. Lisa has been published in various magazines, including Nature, the weekly, international, interdisciplinary journal of science. Her work was also part of a book titled Mini Darwin in Argentina. I dinosauri raccontati dai ragazzi. She also collaborated on the production of a documentary film for the MarcoPolo expedition, and her work then became part of a group exhibition at the international event Salone del Gusto and Terra Madre 2012.

Although Lisa continues to work as a filmmaker and for commissioned photography projects, she turned to fine art to develop personal photography projects in order to feed her restless curiosity and desire to know more about both what surrounds her and the multitude of figures and stories created by inner visions.
