Ivakkak is an annual event that honors the Husky breeds dogs and the long Inuit tradition of dog sleds. Started in 2001, the race happens through several villages of the Nunavik. Husky dogs have a long tradition of living in harmony with humans. In the last century, they have become a necessity serving as guardians against predators or as guides in the absence of GPS. They can find their way in the tundra very easily. For more information visit the Ivakkak official website: http://www.ivakkak.com/
I took these photos when the racers arrived at the Inukjuak stopover on the 31 march 2017.
