CAGUAS, Puerto Rico - Harry Figueroa, a teacher who spent a week without receiving the oxygen that helped him breathe, died here last week at age 58. His body was so long unrefrigerated that the funeral director was not able to embalm him because of the advanced state of decomposition of the corpse.
Miguel Bastardo Beroa is failing his kidneys. His doctors in the intensive care unit of the Carolina Doctors Hospital are treating him for a bacterial disease he may have contracted in the floods of water contaminated with animal urine after Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico.
