I have dedicated a significant part of my life to photojournalism and documentary photography. You can see some of my work published on CNN and other photoblogs. This fact made me...
Avelino Rocha, sculptor, painter, illustrator, ceramist and visual poet, who has just finished the restoration work of six pannels of the lateral altars of a Church from Antas Parochy, Igreja de Santo António das Antas, Porto.
The restoration process, in this case, is being done by the artist who originally painted the background of the altar fifty years ago. This is a rare but desirable situation, if we think that some of these processes may put works of art in danger when done by people that have no conscience or the skills to perform such a difficult task like this. Restoring the painting on the background of the altars demanded a lot of painting, knowledge and experience.
"As Artes entre as Letras", a Portuguese cultural Journal, published an article about this restoration work and some of my photographs were chosen to illustrate the article.
