Its been over a decade since war in the Balkans, the blodiest conflicto in Europe since World War II, ended with a toll of approximately 100,000 people dead, a million displaced persons ans a systematic ethnic cleaning. In spite of the calamities suffered by all Bosnian communities, after more tan 200 years since the war began, there is still no will to set in motion a true process of reconciliation. At the time, Bosnia is still divided by ethnic boundaries, without even being able to acknowledge their past of face the future, and coexisting with serious internal problems such as the wound if the civil war, an unemployment rate nearing 45% and high levels of corruption and political clientelism.
The Balkan Song is an essay about personal spaces and the everyday refuges of people from Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia that, in spite of their war scars, don't forget that life goes on.
