“Words of success, words of failure, words of union, words of separation.

I equip you with words to fight, with words to win. I equip you with words to settle a deal. Words are at my finger tips, I produce it faster than you can speak.

I sit on street and document important events in your journey of life with my humble typewriter.

But today my words are falling silent at a corner of a busy street. In fact I am not welcome on a street any more! Noise of busy life is getting louder and taking over, wiping my words. Speed of my hands are not being able to keep pace with speed of modern time. Life around me is getting busier, faster and automated. And my words are getting lost. So does my voice. My existence. A new typewriter is not born any more. Old ones are not cared for any more. My profession doesn’t have any value to the new generation! Once I have kept every record of time, today I am losing a battle with time. My typewriter is falling silent and not being able to stand the test of time.”

Can you hear someone’s whispering voice?

I can. I can hear his voice, trembling, almost falling silent. I can’t wait to pick up my lenses to capture the fag end of his life! I want every one to hear what he says, what he feels today. Let people know the role he played for decades in our lives. He equipped us with words to fight a battle. He empowered us. He kept record of time, record of our many landmark events, now let his memory get etched in our mind.

This is my attempt to create a living document of these dying document makers. A powerful visual document of people whose typewriters are getting frail today along with them.  Probably their voice will not be heard any more, will fall silent forever. But still at some corners of bustling streets we hear a sudden whisper from their typewriters getting faded into ambient noise fast. A visual document to capture those whispering typewriters and their masters in modern urban life. A moving tale of those street typists amidst moving traffic on dingy streets. Let my images touch their lives whose touch of keys freezes a moment to find a place in history.
