When I first meat Julie and Ivo they had just become a couple and we shared quite some time together, but quickly there relationship became much more serious. They seemed to do all the things that all the others were just talking about - like having a baby.
Karla was born in Oktober that year and soon after they decided to move to the countryside and I decided to follow in that adventure with my camera.
Since 2 years I am documenting theire lives now - in a place where statistics would never usually place them: because they settled down on an old, dilapidated farm in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the eastern German state which is currently suffering the most from the departure ofyoung, educated people.
However, the family has not made a dogma of their alternative way of living. They are neither organic farmers norhippies, yet their new surroundings have changed their lives in that things have been decelerated. In the beginning it was just a vage plan, an experiment, last year their second child was born, and none of the family members can imagine a different way of living.
