Artist Statement / Bio

I am a visual artist, who lives in Munich and the Black Forest, Germany. My art incorporates themes of identity, place, memory and place. I use varied artistic expressions that include photography and video. My focus is on still lives and images of place in the form of still lives. I portray the strange moments of daily life. I am interested in all phenomena of light and how light transforms the seemingly obvious into a new reality – thus creating the magic of the image. I am a traveller, an explorer, of the outer world - of culture and people, of working worlds and of inner worlds: Perception, mind and emotion, longing, memories of times gone by.
I attended renowned universities in Germany, Uk and Canadaand studied Liberal arts, sciences and philosophy (MPhil, University of St. Andrews). Then, I travelled from North America to Mexico and in Europe. I worked in Korea for 2 years, crossed Asia, focusing on Nepal, Japan, China, Vietnam and Mongolia. I attended master courses with Josef Schulz 2014, Sonja Braas 2016, Jean-Christian Bourcat, Arles 2019 and Oded Wagenstein. In 2020, I completed a masterclass with Jean-Christian Bourcat, Nicolas Havette and Jane Evelyn Atwood at Oeildeep, Paris and a Salzburg Summer Academy with Eli Cortinas. In 2021, I got accepted to the New York School of Visual Arts Residency and the WSG Residency with Natasha Caruana.
I have exhibited in international art festivals  such as Reclaim/UK oder Kuala Lumpur, art institutions and galleries such as Ulli Seufert and Litvai Gallery in Germany, Tina Goncalvez Gallery in Portugal and Unique Contemporary in Italy. Photos held in public and private collections in Germany and New Zealand. I have successfully contributed to many art and photography prizes and become 3. Prize winner of the Alzey-Worms Art prize in 2016. I turned bronze winner at Px3 (2015), finalist eg. at Premio Arte Laguna (2015), Premio Celeste (2015), Premio Lynx, The Julia Cameron Gala Award (2020), The Swiss Photo Club Awards (2019) , the ARTIG Art prize offered by the art association in Kempten (2016) and the South West German Art Prize (2018). I gained a Dotart honorable mention in 2015 (street), a Sipa first selection 2016 and a shortlisting at Premio Celeste in 2017. My book „False Moons“ was a finalist in the 2020 9th Rendez-Vous-Images festival in France.
