Marleen Sleeuwits was born on 23 June 1980 in Enschede, The Netherlands. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, she continued her studies in the post-graduate Photography programme at AKV/St. Joost in Breda, which she rounded off in 2005. She lives and works in The Hague.
Marleen Sleeuwits’ photographic work focuses on the urban environment and investigates the sense of being disconnected from such locations. Sleeuwits’ style is characterised by a detached approach with a pronounced sense of light, colour and composition.
Her photos have been shown in, among other places, MKgalerie in Rotterdam and Berlin, Breda Photo, Galerie Kunstagenten in Berlin, Foto Festival Naarden, Jeonju Photofestival, South Korea and in the Jarach Gallery in Venice. Her work is included in the collections of Erasmus University Rotterdam, Heden Den Haag and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in a variety of private collections.
