"My body belongs to me" by Cristina Mastrandrea

Amina Tyler, the young tunisian femen activist, 18 years old, she published on facebook her topless photos, inspired by international Femen movement, and started her protest against women condition and islamic moral.

”My body belongs to me, and is not the source of anyone’s honor” and “ Fuck your morals” was written across her chest. After posting her topless photos she has been threatened with death by stoning from an islamic Imam and she disappeared for almost 1 months, deteined by her own family, under psychotropic drugs threathments and without any contact with the outside.

After a while Amina runned away from family house and on May 19th she got arrested in Kairouan, during a salafist protest, she wrote Femen on a wall, close to the Kairouan mosque and she got arrested with the charges of desecrating a cemetery and detention of pepper spray. She has been in jail till the first of August.

She became a symbol of the freedom of expression and of the arab women’s fight against religious obscurantism and the moral of islamic society. Now, Amina Tyler (Sboui) is free. She lives in Paris finishing her study.
