A tattoo of the Washington, DC flag has become a rite of passage for many DC residents in recent years with some getting them to express their political feelings and others simply their love of Washington.  Regardless of their motivations, residents were given a prime opportunity to bond over their tattoos with the inaugural DC Flag Tattoo Day, which was created to raise awareness for DC statehood.

For those weary of permanently inking their affection for the Nation's capital on their bodies, small temporary tattoos of the city's flag were distributed.
