Children are afraid of the darkness at night. I was a child too. Night is a merciless queen who shelters with equal indifference the living&the dead, angels&demons, extreme beauty&ugliness, tragedy&comedy, pain&pleasure, saints&assasins, cats&mice. Night for me is no longer a time of fear and darkness, but in the hours of the night I see raising the sublime. These words may sound pretentiously, but it's been a time since I lost my fear of being ridiculous. I also know that in my photographs that sublime I'm talking about may not show yet. I'm still weak... But, I'm convinced if I gaze long enough in the heart of darkness, the sublime will reveal itself. Diogenes used to light a candle in the middle of the day, but didn't find what he was looking for. But he kept looking. Tender is the night.
