I’m a professional photographer and B/W fine art printer with more than 20 years experience. As a independent worker and bilingual artist I'm available for commercial and editorial assignments worldwide. I specialize in creative content photography from portraiture and private or intimate events to performance art and in travel and documentary photography at home and abroad.  I love creating behind the scenes photographs that will help enhance the work of private entities or of individuals. Ideal for those who want to share their work in social media or create trust among their clients. It also contributes in keeping documentation of the work creating a long lasting archive for future reference.

Personal: Mara Catalán was born in Madrid and she has lived in Spain, Mexico and the United States, working both as a photographer and a Fine Art B&W printer.  Her interest in photography was sparked as a child, travelling with her father to remote Spanish villages in search of popular folk ballads that were later transcribed for his studies on the Spanish Romances. On these journeys she developed an interest in world, through the people she met, their traditions and customs.  Photography allowed her to pursue that interest, looking and reflecting on the world around her - part diary, part autobiography and part documentary.
Mara’s photography has been published and exhibited extensively in Europe, Mexico, and the United States. Her first monograph, Williamsburg, A Place I Once Called Home, was published by Red Hook Editions. 2019.
Mara lives in Brooklyn, NY with her three kids Luna, Kidon and Arlo.
