Traditionally, "Lakou Souvenance" organizes its festivities during the Easter period. During this event, a litany of choreographic and cult performances are performed in relation to certain voodoo rituals.
These activities, which stretch over several days, drain thousands of Haitian visitors and some curious foreigners.
"Lakou Souvenance" was founded in 1815 by Jean-Baptiste Bois, affectively called "Papa Bois". At his death, Archelus Bois, his son, took over. Fedelien is the third servant of Lakou. He served this function throughout the American occupation. After its transition, space was closed because of the "Rejected Campaign" initiated by the Catholic Church to persecute voodoo. In 1940, Bien-Aimé Fils, ati Bien-Aimé, took the reins of the lakou. After 50 years of service, in 1990, at the age of 94, he crossed. And since then, it is his son Jean Georges Bien-Aimé who takes care of this ancestral heritage.
