Beginning in September 2016 I started volunteering at the Refugee Empowerment Center in Omaha, Nebraska. I give my time to the resettlement organization as a photographer, as well as a mentor to those who are new to the community. Every day I learn that refugee empowerment is a global issue that has many nuances and individualized needs. I returned to Omaha after school to build community at the local, at the individual, level.
